Artists Bhutanese Handmade Paper, 16x28cm (pack of 5) – Paperesque

Artists’ handmade paper, made in Bhutan. This quality artist resho paper is made from the bast fibre of de-nar lokta, resulting in a darker toned and harder surface than typical Nepalese lokta paper. The paper is made in the traditional Himalayan 'floating mould' way, where the pulp is poured onto the paper frame . The mould is then left in the sun to dry naturally, imparting a slightly textured laid pattern throughout the fine crisp paper.

Archery: National Sport of Bhutan

Bhutan Archery Festival: Your Window to Bhutan's National Sport

Archery was declared the national sport in 1971, when Bhutan became a member of the United Nations. Since then, the popularity of Bhutanese archery has increased both inside and outside Bhutan, with a measure of government promotion.  n  also maintains an Olympic archery team.

1. Bow And Arrow
The bow and arrow is a ranged weapon system consisting of an elastic launching device (bow) and long-shafted projectiles (arrows).
Archery is the art, practice, or skill of using bows to shoot arrows. A person who shoots arrows with a bow is called a bowman or an archer. Someone who makes bows is known as a bowyer, one who makes arrows is a Fletcher, and one who manufactures metal arrowheads is an arrow smith.

Humans used bows and arrows for hunting and violence long before recorded history, and the practice was common to many prehistoric cultures. They were important weapons of war from ancient history until the early modern period, where they were rendered increasingly obsolete by the development of the more powerful and accurate firearms, and were eventually dropped from warfare. Today, bows and arrows are mostly used for hunting and sports.

5 Best Paper Crafts | DIY Paper Craft | Ventuno Art - YouTube

Paper, one of the most familiar, inexpensive, and abundant materials around, is great for arts and crafts.

With the right techniques, however, you can also use it for anything from prototyping small models to constructing furniture or even boats and buildings. Here’s how to push the limits of its potential.

Craft Stationary Items

Crafting with Paper: DIY Utensil Holders

Supplies:
– 12×12 Scrapbook Paper (Each paper makes two utensil holders, so grab as many as you’ll need.)
– Scissors
– Washi Tape
– Plastic Utensils

Crafting with Paper: DIY Utensil Holders!

Items Required

Instructions:

Step 1: Start off by cutting your scrapbook paper in half. As I mentioned above, one paper makes two utensil holders.

Cut the scrapbook paper in half.

Step 2: Take out a napkin and place it in the middle of one of the pieces of scrapbook paper you just cut.

Step 3: Fold over each side of the paper that’s overlapping the napkin.

Step 5: Turn over the “almost” utensil holder. Fold the lower corners into small triangles and then fold the entire bottom upwards.

Step 6: Secure the fold with wash tape.

Use washi tape to hold folds in place

Step 7: Place a piece of washi tape over the fold in the front. You don’t have to put some, I did it because I find it pretty!

Step 8: Insert the napkin, utensils, and straw.

Wooden craft

1. Wood curving

Bhutan has a vibrant culture of making Patra (པ་ཏྲ་) or wood carving. Professional Patra carvers, known as parps (སྤརཔ་) usually practice the trade of carving on wood for various purposes.
Patra carvings can be found in the production of books, images, architectural designs, furniture and many other wooden artefacts.
This form of wood carving has been designated as one of the 13 traditional arts and crafts promoted by Bhutan since the 17th century.

Short Clip on making carved on wood

Various types of wood are used for carving such as: blue pine, walnut, cypress, maple and champ. Soft wood such as blue pine is preferred by carvers for easy carving but hard woods such as champ and walnut are more durable.
First, the wood is prepared by sawing and planing and a wide range of knives and chisels are used by the carver. The desired design or drawing is then imposed on the wood and the lines are imprinted using ink.
In the first effort, the part which has to be removed is dug out using large chisels and then finer chisels are used to give the finesse and to make nuanced carvings.
